Is This The Best Talent Attraction Opportunity In 2023?
Dec 07, 2022
While the unemployment rate in the US is relatively low, the gap between demand for jobs and the supply of workers for on-site positions is four times as high as remote work. So, what does this mean for small businesses looking to hire top talent in 2023?
We’ve had conversations in the podcast about things that small businesses might be able to do to attract more talent. One of the suggestions that we had was considering remote work or hybrid work as a talent acquisition strategy.
Of course, different employees thrive in different environments, and obviously different jobs require different environments. But for those employees who have experienced working from home and the hybrid environment, now that has been disrupted.
This fact begs the question: what are somebody's motivations for wanting to work in person, especially if they've been working remotely?
Moreover, a concerning aspect of this disruption is that many people may be accepting jobs, just in the short term to get them by until they can land that remote job. So, if you’re an employer requiring in person work and hiring right now, this is something that will be crucial to vet out as much as you can during that interview process.
When you’re running a small business, it's easy to be thinking in the now. But in order to remain competitive, it’s vital to consider how quickly the talent market has changed in just a year, and expect that it can do the same in the future.
The best recruitment strategy in this regard is to be very careful with where you're recruiting, who you're recruiting, and what you're able to offer now and sustain in the future. That way, you’ll be able to level up your business through different economies.
